How to Find a Toastmasters Club in London

Welcome! If you're new here, you may want to learn about our club, or come to a meeting. You can also subscribe to the RSS feed or to our Club Calendar.
Thanks for visiting!
Club Members can login and post articles to help create this as a resource and to promote the club. Thanks for you help.

There’s a search feature on toastmasters.org that can help you find
clubs around the world.  The link below will show you clubs
in London that aren’t  ’company’ clubs.  There might be one near to
you.

Also, there’s a fabulous google map on the UK/Ireland District 71 website:

It’s worth finding a club that suits you, so shop
around a bit.  You’re very welcome to come along unannounced to any of
our meetings.  You wouldn’t be the only one who travels in to the City
just to come to our club.

Club Competition Results

Thanks to all members who took part in our club Table Topics Competition last night. Despite some nerves, I think a fun time was had by all. The winners from each of the 4 heats will compete at our next meeting to become the club champion!  These were: Philip HellyerWilliam Moss, Rick Payne, and Anthony Warden.

Bill Moss also competed in the speech contest, alongside Anthony Miller & Anthony Warden.  Winning out over strong competition, Bill will be representing our club at the area contest on the 14th of April.

Also, a couple of meetings ago we held the first heats of an Evaluation Competition.  If memory serves, Marc Johnson, Bill Moss, Zac Ghadially, and [another] competed.  Zac and Bill will be arm-wrestling for the prize at our next meeting on the 18th.

How to make Your Speeches Come Alive with Stories

    March 5, 2008
    6:30 pm

Through history, stories have been one of the most
important ways for humans to communicate. The
greatest speakers recognise this, and all tell a story or
    stories in their speeches.
On March 5th, Andrew Brammer, DTM, will host, in
conjunction with Division B, a unique workshop on ‘How To
Make Our Speeches Come Alive with Stories’
    .
As a previous winner of the UK and Ireland Humorous
Speech contest, this event will involve, amuse and
entertain. This workshop is suited to people of all abilities
and is a wonderful learning opportunity for us all.

To book your place please visit:
    http://www.andrewbrammer.eventbrite.com
There is an administrative charge of £3. For more details,
    please visit www.thelondonspeaker.com.
Look forward to seeing you there!

City Speakers Toastmasters Club Competition Night

    Hi members,

It’s competition time again … and this time City Speakers aim to do it right. We want to get the club prepared to win some honours.

Over the next month we will be selecting champion evaluators, table topics speakers and prepared speakers to represent the club at the Area Finals and beyond.

The club competitions will be organised as a two round occasion, so that the club winners will be doubly experienced before going on to Area Finals.

    *** EVALUATION CONTEST ***

These will take place on Tuesday 5th February (next week !!!) and Tue 19th February. FOUR PLACES ONLY in each heat. First come, first served. Two evaluators from each heat will qualify for the final on 18th March.

Email me URGENTLY if you want to participate.

    *** TABLE TOPICS CONTEST ***

4th March. On this evening we will be holding several table topics heats to select 4 finalists to go forward to the final on 18th March.

    *** SPEECH CONTEST ***

Heats of up to 8 speakers on 4th March, selecting 3 finalists to repeat their speeches on 18th March. YOU CAN REPEAT A PREVIOUS SPEECH. Alternatively, you can try a brand new speech. If you have a speech to hand you think is a winning speech then email me. If you have won a Best Speech of the Evening award over the last year, then email me. If you want to recommend a good speech by another member that you’ve heard at a meeting, then email me. I want a full complement of 8 speeches in this heat. No excuses. You don’t even need to write a new speech. Just do it again, but better !

*** WHAT YOU NEED TO DO ***

Email me [John Campbell] now telling me which competition(s) you want to compete in. All paid up members will be expected to take part in at least one contest, or send me an excuse why not. I will chase each of you individually if I don’t hear from you.

*** URGENT ACTION *** Evaluators for next Tuesday’s Evaluation heat.

Be excited, cos this year is going to be the year City Speakers win at the Area Finals.
